Showcasing Success
Showcasing is displaying, pointing out, recognizing, or presenting. Showcasing is essential to the social, academic, and emotional achievement of all learners. Here are four examples of means of showcasing learners or their learning:
- Celebrations and affirmations
- Call to Excellence assemblies
- Recitation
- Displaying a product or portion of a product from every learner

Displaying Student Work
Another way to showcase learners is to display their work. The goal of displaying work is to create ownership in the learning environment, instill a sense of pride in a job well done, and promote effort and personal best. In the Great Expectations teaching model, every learner has work displayed with positive commentary focusing on quality effort or quality work. Due to privacy concerns and rules of confidentiality, works with grade labeling or grade marks should not be displayed. Methods of displaying every learner’s work may differ greatly from location to location. The goal is to focus on the desired level of success.
Benefits of displaying student work
- Creates ownership in the learning environment
- Focuses on quality effort and quality work
- Motivates learners to achieve their personal best
- Provides setting for positive feedback and affirmation
- Honors every learner
- Work on display from one learner provides a model for classmates
